General Manager

Coastside County Water District is a lean, exceptionally well-run agency seeking a high-caliber, hands-on leader to be the next General Manager continuing the legacy of stability, transparency, and community trust. While situated on the scenic San Mateo County coast, the District functions with the technical and regulatory sophistication of a major metropolitan utility but operates with a small, dedicated team of just 25 employees. CCWD is the biggest little water district in California.

Job Description

Treatment / Distribution Operator

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Install and repair water mains, service connections, meters, and hydrants.
Respond to water leaks and perform distribution system maintenance.
Operate and maintain water treatment plants and pump stations.
Monitor water quality, collect samples, and perform chemical testing.
Inspect and maintain wells, storage tanks, pumps, and other facilities.
Operate trucks, backhoes, power tools, and other equipment.
Read water meters and maintain accurate service and operational records.
Respond to after-hours emergencies and participate in weekend and holiday rotations.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

California Grade 2 Water Distribution Certificate.
California Grade 2 Water Treatment Certificate.
Valid California Class C Driver’s License.
Ability to obtain a Class B California Driver’s License within six months of employment.
Knowledge of water distribution, treatment operations, equipment maintenance, and workplace safety.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow instructions, and respond effectively to emergencies.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
This position involves physical labor, operating heavy equipment, working outdoors in varying weather conditions, and exposure to confined spaces, heights, noise, and chemicals. Employees must be available for weekend and holiday rotations, irregular hours, and emergency callouts.
