At the February 11, 2020 Board of Director’s meeting, the Board voted to change the Coastside County Water District’s electoral system for members of the Board of Directors from at-large to zone elections beginning with the November 3, 2020 election. The District now uses a system based on five zones and has established zone boundaries and sequencing of the elections. Instead of voting for each available open seat on the Board of Directors, you will now vote only for the candidates running within your zone.
Second Public Hearing to Adjust Election Zone Boundaries Using 2020 Census Data
The Election Code provides that following a 10-year federal census and using the updated census as a base, the Board of Directors shall adopt new boundaries for any or all of the election zones so that the zones shall be substantially equal in population. Coastside County Water District has engaged Redistricting Partners LLC to review and redraw the District’s election map in accordance to the Federal and California Voting Rights Acts.
On February 8, 2022 at the Regular Board Meeting, a second public hearing will be held to review the proposed Election Zone Boundaries.
